Representative of the 74th District of Virginia!
Delegate Joseph D. Morrissey is a Virginia native and has been a member of the Virginia House of Delegates since 2008. He serves on the Education, Health Welfare & Institutions, and Privileges and Elections committees.
Joe was born in Washington, D.C. on September 23, 1957 and is the second of six children. He attended Saint Michaels Parochial School and Bishop Denis J. O’Connell High School. He is a 1979 graduate of University of Virginia, where he majored in economics and minored in chemistry. He received his law degree in 1982 from Georgetown University and a Masters-in-Laws degree in 2003 from Trinity College in Dublin, Ireland, where he was a visiting lecturer.
Joe is a former high school government teacher and the former Commonwealth’s Attorney of Richmond (1989-1993). He currently lives in Highland Springs and is a member of the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart in Richmond, Virginia, which recently celebrated its centennial (100th) year in 2006. His community activities includes the Varina Lions Club and The Salvation Army Boys and Girls Club. The Varina Lions Club actively promotes fundraising activities to benefit the blind and visually impaired.
Joe has two children and in his spare time, he enjoys various outdoor activities including: boating, water skiing, running, horseback riding, and cycling.
